Content clearance

We aim to give clear, practical and accurate advice to editors, journalists and authors writing to deadlines.

We appreciate that the solicitor's role is advisory and the final decision is an editorial one.

Clearance work is closely linked to litigation. We are ready to protect publishers' interests in the courts at short notice and to resist pre-publication threats, including injunctions.

Legal reports on typescripts are provided on a fixed fee basis to give clarity and certainty in relation to costs.

Areas covered include: libel, privacy and confidentiality, contempt of court, official secrecy and DA-notices, copyright, reporting restrictions including those relating to children and young persons, data protection, blasphemy, obscenity, freedom of information, criminal liability and protection of sources.
