Dispute Resolution & Litigation

The multi-talented Dispute Resolution and Litigation team work as a single unit to provide a fast, effective and efficient service different from that of other firms.

Working under the highly-motivated leadership of Razi Mireskandari in an open-plan workspace, the team's collaborative approach and genuine camaraderie ensures that we provide quick response times, flexible teams tailored to every case and exceptionally high quality, cost-effective advice and representation.

Tailor-made and targeted

Unlike other firms we do not litigate by blue-print. Dispute resolution and litigation are not off-the-peg processes. Every client and every case is different and our aim is to ensure every piece of advice and every step taken is tailor-made and targeted to maximise our clients' prospects of a successful outcome - whatever that may be.

For some firms, "unrestrained aggression" is the only setting on their litigation dial. In rare cases, this is an effective strategy or may reflect the client's wishes but it often comes at a steep price, not only in financial terms but also in terms of clients' interests; their reputation, privacy and well-being. We do not have a default setting. Our business thrives not on maximising costs at the expense of our clients but on repeat work and recommendations from clients, impressed with the personal - and personable - service they receive from us. As a result, we have immensely loyal clients who recognise that we offer a much better and more cost effective service than other firms.

Close-knit unit

A tailor-made service must be matched with quality work. Partners Razi Mireskandari, Louis Charalambous, Stephen Shotnes, Martin Soames and Simon Conroy combine a wealth of dispute resolution and litigation experience on behalf of both claimants and defendants: Robert Murat, Doreen Lawrence, Ricky Hatton, Heather Brooke, Channel 4, Channel 5, Simon & Schuster, Time Out, Random House and Unite Here! to name a few. Associate Lucy Moorman, a barrister, brings to the team 15 years' experience preparing and conducting litigation at the independent Bar and rising stars Theo Solley, Jeffrey Smele and Gordon Clough are integral members of this close-knit unit.

A commercial and realistic approach

The two biggest drivers in dispute resolution in the recent past have been increased emphasis on alternative dispute resolution (ADR), especially mediation, and the availability of Conditional Fee Agreements (CFAs), After the Event Insurance (ATE) and other litigation funding schemes.

We pride ourselves on our ability to take a commercial and realistic approach to the cost of disputes and, where appropriate, offer suitable CFA and/or ATE terms in all types of cases. We are a pioneer in CFAs and ATE and one of a handful of firms to which Temple Legal Protection Limited (one of the most respected ATE insurers in the market) has given delegated authority whatever the subject matter of the dispute. This enables us to offer, where appropriate, ATE insurance at no cost to the client, and without application to the insurer. This reflects the level of confidence (achieved through a relationship of many years) that Temple has in the firm's ability to represent their insured.

Razi Mireskandari, Martin Soames and Simon Conroy are CEDR trained mediators of many years' experience and all members of the team are astute at identifying how and when clients will benefit from ADR.

"The quality of the service and the speed of intervention at each stage of a difficult process were of the highest order."
