Immigration Lawyer



Prior to joining Simons Muirhead & Burton, Shahram Taghavi practised as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers. He was called to the Bar in 1994 and specialises in Immigration & Nationality, Human Rights, Public law, Education and Inquests. He has particular expertise in judicial review and European Court of Human Rights litigation.

Shahram has for many years been recognised by both the Chambers Guide and the Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in his field and has been described as "excellent", having a "dynamic touch", being a lawyer whose "knowledge shines through, a "respected advocate" and recognised for his “commitment and efficiency”. He is the founder and former editor of the Immigration & Nationality Law Reports and is co-author of Human Rights Act 1998, A Practical Guide and Blackstone's Guide to the Asylum and Immigration Act 2004. He is a member of the Constitutional & Administrative Law Bar Association, the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, the Human Rights Lawyers Assocaition, and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants. Whilst at the bar, Shahram also taught Constitutional and Administrative law at the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
