Maninder is the Head of the firm's Intellectual Property and Retail groups.
His main areas of practice are intellectual property enforcement, formulating brand strategies, copyright, trade marks, passing-off, franchising, commercial contracts and media law including defamation and privacy.
Clients include Getty Images who instruct this firm for most of its copyright infringement enforcement work, and Aspinal of London, Theo Fennell PLC, Aftershock of London, East India Company, Amanda Wakeley, Joseph, The Rug Company and L.K. Bennett.
Maninder was previously the Legal Director of the international luxury retailer Harvey Nichols. He holds a LLM in Intellectual Property and speaks regularly at conferences. He was also previously Group Secretary and Legal Director at Northern and Shell plc/Express Newspapers, the publishing and broadcasting group and draws upon this experience to advise on strategies on dealing with the media.
Maninder has appeared on television and radio on numerous occasions and is regularly asked by the media to comment on IP related matters.
He is listed in the Brand Protection and Franchising sections in the Legal 500 and was ranked as a leading in-house lawyer by 'The Legal 500'. He is described in previous editions of the 'Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession' as having a reputation for "fighting tooth and nail". He has been named in the Lawyer Magazine's Hot 100 lawyers list and was on The Times newspaper's Panel of Experts.
Maninder was a Visiting Lecturer at The European Business School in London where he spoke on Intellectual Property Law on the Masters degree course in Luxury Brand Management. He sits on the Board of Yellow Earth, the East Asian theatre company which uses performing traditions of East and West to celebrate the meeting of cultures.
