Theo specialises in media and commercial litigation and Privy Council appeals.
Theo joined SM&B as a trainee and qualified as a solicitor in 2004.
Since qualification, Theo has established a diverse practice acting for a number of well-known clients in the areas of commercial and media litigation and defamation.
Theo is also active in the firm's development of litigation funding (CFA's) and use of After The Event insurance and has lectured on the CFA and ATE funding options available to clients.
Working alongside partners Razi Mireskandari, Louis Charalambous and Stephen Shotnes, Theo has assisted in a wide range of media related matters. He also has considerable commercial litigation experience. Successful claims are as varied as missappropriation of confidential information claims and film finance disputes. He also acted in a high profile personal injury case for Oscar-nominated film director Mike Figgis and currently represents a former director of EastEnders in a personal injury claim against the BBC.
Theo acts as Privy Council agent to a number of international law firms in appeals to the Privy Council. He currently represents Bermudan firm Mello, Jones & Martin and their client, the Bermuda Police Association, in appeal no. 2010/0080. His most high profile cases include acting for the American and Belize governments, as well as in the Bermuda Broadcasting and Samuel Wray defamation appeals.
