Jeffrey Smele

Jeffrey has become an accomplished and key member of the Dispute Resolution and Litigation Team. His work focuses on defamation and reputation management and all aspects of law relating to the media and journalism.
Jeffrey runs his own caseload as well as assisting in partner-led teams on large scale matters, including multi-party cases. He has helped secure successful settlements and apologies for a wide variety of clients, and has particular expertise in internet related matters, such as the removal of defamatory content online. He undertakes both claimant and defendant work.
Jeffrey also undertakes criminal litigation and regularly provides criminal law or regulatory advice to media clients.
Jeffrey read law at University College London and was called to the Bar in 2005. Following two years working at SM&B, he qualified as a solicitor in 2008.
He is a founding member of the firm's Press Law team.
